Malaysia Motorcycle Sales Expected to Reach 650,000 units in 2023, down 10% from 2022

Updated: Dec 18, 2023

Malaysia Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association (MMSDA) President, Mr. Wee Hong revealed that motorcycle sales in Malaysia are expected to reach 650,000 units in 2023, down 10% from the 720,000 units sold in 2022.

Wee said that based on data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), motorcycle sales in Malaysia from January to October 2023 totaled 550,000 units, down 9.4% from the 607,000 units sold in the same period in 2022.

He noted that the average growth rate for motorcycle sales in Malaysia over the past five years, from 2018 to 2022, was about 8% excluding 2020, when sales fell due to the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Wee said that the slight decline in sales in 2023 was still within a normal market fluctuation range.
